چکیده

This article presents a BIE (Boundary Integral Equation) modeling that applies the technique of domain mapping (Shiah and Tan (1998) [12]) as well as MRM (Multiple Reciprocity Method (Nowak (1989) [10])) to treat the problem of 3D anisotropic heat conduction involving arbitrary volume heat source. By the domainmapping technique, the original function of the volume heat source is accordingly transformed to a new function defined in the mapped domain. As a result of applying MRM, the volume integral arising from the transformed heat source is transformed into a series of boundary integrals. At the end of this paper, three numerical examples are presented to show the veracity and accuracy of the proposed algorithm. Also, the convergence of the transformed boundary integrals is also investigated for different types of volume heat source functions. © 2011 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

Development of a Moving Finite Element-Based Inverse Heat Conduction Method for Determination of Moving Surface Temperature

A moving finite element-based inverse method for determining the temperature on a moving surface is developed. The moving mesh is generated employing the transfinite mapping technique. The proposed algorithms are used in the estimation of surface temperature on a moving boundary with high velocity in the burning process of a homogenous low thermal diffusivity solid fuel. The measurements obtain...

Fundamental solutions for steady-state heat transfer in an exponentially graded anisotropic material

Heat conduction in an anisotropic inhomogeneous medium is considered. The conductivities vary exponentially in one fixed but arbitrary direction. The Green’s function corresponding to a point source is constructed. Two methods are used, one using Fourier transforms and one involving certain changes of variables in the governing partial differential equation. Solutions in both two and three dime...
